ABOUT RACHEL

Yoga made its way into my life at the perfect time. I was twenty years old, running from thing to thing, and truthfully- mentally and physically exhausted. Under the notion that yoga wasn't a "workout," I avoided it at all costs. At that phase of my life, I was naive to the fact that this practice could be the answer to so many of my issues. My friend urged me to take a class with her, and I reluctantly went (after a cardio workout) to try this practice out. Not only was I incredibly sore immediately, I felt an instant mindful connection too. I quickly became addicted to the entire idea of yoga- the breath work, the mentality, the poses- all of it.

Continuing to refine my practice, I practiced yoga for the next five years. It was then when I decided to take it to the next step and work towards my 200-hour teacher training. As a school teacher, the combination of education and yoga seemed to fit. The two worlds that I was most passionate about were now melding into one, and it helped me gain confidence not only as a teacher, but as a practitioner as well. The entire training experience was incredible, and I not only learned quite a bit about the various realms of yoga, I learned a lot about myself.

Yoga has been my way of unpacking my stressors, providing a safe space for calm and peace, and a true sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of my everyday life. My goal as a teacher is to bring that harmony to your mat, so that you can take a small piece of it with you off of your mat and into the world around you. Can't wait to see you in the studio!
